Palette — option ⑥

Drag one onto the board you last touched (or click to add). Drag any tile OUT and release over this panel to remove it — one undo puts it back with its neighbours.

What each board shows

1Two boards, one canvasDrag a tile from ① into ② — the source board settles, the target makes room live, and the whole crossing is ONE undo.
2Explicit cell placementThe green tile declares fixed cells (gridItem col 3–4 · row 1–2); the others carry no cells and auto-flow around it.
3Bounded sectionmaxRows: 1 nested inside board ③: its own pack grid, a locked slab outside. Pull a tile past it and the strip GROWS a row (all tiles together); pull back and it shrinks. The main dashboard deliberately does not use this.
4Pinned tileThe amber tile is locked: never pushed, and a drag onto it is refused outright.
5Float & fit/growFloat off = gravity packs upward, no holes; on = tiles stay where you drop them. Fit = board keeps its height, rows squeeze; grow = rows keep their height, the board extends.
6Palette in, drag outDrag-in places live from the moment the cursor enters; a release over the palette deletes, undoably.
7Responsive columns + the layout cacheBoard D's count comes from its WIDTH (responsive: { columnWidth: 45 }, capped at 12; breakpoints is the other way to say it). Press Board width: narrowing caches the layout it leaves, so widening back restores it exactly. Edits made while narrow carry into the wide layout, and toJSON() always saves the widest one — save on a phone, keep the desktop. The binder owns the re-evaluation; no page code listens for resizes.
8RTLBoard E is rtl: true. Column 0 renders at the RIGHT edge, the resize corner and the drop placeholder mirror with it — and nothing else changes: the cells, the engine's push/swap/gravity rules and every saved layout are direction-agnostic.
